It seems like we haven't had class FOREVER with me being sick one day and professional development training the second day. So, time to get back on track....
First of all, I am going to show you how to enter email addresses into your blog so people automatically get an email when you post. There is a difference between "following" and "Follow by Email".
We're then going to enter information about Edmodo into our tech blog. Search for Edmodo using Google, then select the Wikipedia definition. Copy and paste the info from the Wikipedia site onto a Word document, edit it, then copy and paste to your blog.
The NEXT thing we're going to do is discuss Chapter 2. I have not assigned this to you to read but I want to breeze through it and pick out some info you'll find valuable.
The second to the last thing we're going to do in class today is discuss email etiquette. I've given you a handout about email etiquette. You are going to post this information to your tech blog, much like you did with Edmodo, and use the info for your assignment for Thursday.
And the last thing we'll do today is a brief overview of Microsoft Publisher....
Assignment for Thursday, Feb. 6:
One of your roles in your future careers will be to educate families of the students you work with, as well as the students themselves. Your assignment is to use the information I provided to you about email etiquette and Microsoft Publisher to create a newsletter for families. Save your finished document on your computer, then email it to me before class on Thursday, at 9 AM.
Make sure your newsletter contains sufficient information about email etiquette, your contact information if the reader would like more information, an aesthetically-pleasing design, no spelling errors, a tone that is appropriate for families - all on one page. Let me know if you have questions.
