Gearing up for the second half of the semester!

We're going to start class by reviewing terms on the Word Wall.

Then, your assignment for today was to go to the Common Sense Media site and find one lesson plan and share it with your peers. TYou will get up in front of the class and walk us through the lesson, telling us all about it, what grade level it is for, what concepts it teaches, and so on - about 5-8 minutes in length. If there are video clips as part of the lesson, you will share these with us, as well.

The site that we looked at last week that introduced us to the "Digital Citizenship" term was Common Sense Media

To access the lessons, go to the site and then click on "Educators". On the next page that opens, click on "Digital Citizenship" and then "Scope and Sequence". There you will find a list of lesson ideas according to grade level.

These are the topics that will be presented today in class:
  • Justyn - Screen Out the Mean (K-2)
  • Antonia - Power of Words (Grades 3-5)
  • Waylon - Rings of Responsibility (Grades 3-5)
  • Kendra - Things for Sale (K-2)
  • Jade - Cyber-bullying (Grades 3-5)
  • Theresa - Picture Perfect (Grades 3-5)
  • Myles - You've Won a Prize (Grades 3-5)
A few things to do this week:
  •  Bring your CVs to class on Thursday.
  • Complete course evaluation.
  • We're going to be making books. Start collecting pictures around one theme. You will need 12-14 pictures.
  • No class next week - Spring Break
  • No class on Thursday, March 27 - All Campus Professional Development Day
  • Looking ahead: Training on using the ActiveBoard and more with iPads
Assignment for Thursday,  Feb. 27:
Read Chapter 4 in your text (it's short). Define the terms on page 93 (typed - Word document). We need to know these terms for the second half of the semester.
