Tuesday -and it's starting to feel like spring!

Your assignment for today was to find a math activity that could be taught using Excel software. You were supposed to tell us what grade level the activity was for and a description of the activity, including how you would incorporate Excel.

Today we're going to talk about "Digital Citizenship". We'll begin by setting up an account for the following site:

http://www.commonsensemedia.org/

"Pin" this site.

What is "digital citizenship"?
Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare students/technology users for a society full of technology. Digital citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology use.  Too often we are seeing students as well as adults misusing and abusing technology but not sure what to do. The issue is more than what the users do not know but what is considered appropriate technology usage.

Assignment for Tuesday, Feb. 25:
Your assignment is to go to the Common Sense Media site and find one lesson plan and share it with your peers. The topic for the lesson plan should be on a topic addressing "Digital Citizenship". You will get up in front of the class and walk us through the lesson, telling us all about it, what grade level it is for, what concepts it teaches, and so on - about 5-8 minutes in length. If there are video clips as part of the lesson, you will share these with us, as well. Nothing has to be written - but you will be videotaped.
