Internet Resources

Today, in class, we're going to discuss and then explore the WEALTH of information available in the online environment.

Following a brief Powerpoint presentation, we will be exploring these sites:

Description on page 100 of your text.

https://librivox.org/

http://creativecommons.org/

This is a new exhibit and program out of the National Museum of Natural History called Q?rius (pronounced curious), a first-of-its-kind interactive and experimental environment that illuminates Smithsonian research, researchers, and collections. This program provides amazing science learning opportunities for students grade 6-12, and focused resources for teachers - for FREE!

Look at the list of Search Engines/Databases on page 105 of your text. Explore four of them - your choice.

The last thing we're going to do in class today is register for Lulu, a self-publishing book site found at http://www.lulu.com/. There are  many of these types of sites available but we're going to sign up for an account for this one. Add this URL and a brief description to your tech blog.

Assignment for Thursday, March 20:
We're going to have a lab again this week. Your assignment is to create a book using Lulu and the pictures I assigned for you to collect (minimum of 12-14). Create your book, upload the pictures, and add text to tell a story. I suggest creating a picture book so the pictures tell the majority of the story for you. If you get this done BEFORE 9 AM on Thursday, send me the link and you do not have to come to class. If you do not get it done, come to class Thursday at 9 AM with your pictures/photos in electronic format. Enjoy!
